A few of the Chez Tess staff members (thankfully front and back of house employees) went to Grand Pre for a short (slightly off season) wine tour in an effort to kick off our “field trip” in October.
One of the things that I really enjoy doing for Chez Tess are the monthly “field trips” that we are using to broaden our curiosity for food and beverage. Grand Pre took us on for October, and allowed staff members to taste a number of their wines. Another favorite was the “Stutz Apple Cider”.
The cider was somewhat different than the Tideview Apple Cider (that we currently carry at the restaurant), because of it’s resemblance to fresh apple juice. To compare the two would be impossible – like comparing strawberry-banana juice with Fresca!
But, the main enjoyment with Grand Pre was found in their interesting stories about the vineyard’s family! This fed our growing interest for local foods, and helped us further understand the importance of knowing where your food (and drink) comes from.
